Strengthening community health systems: A collaborative approach to addressing Kush use in Kailahun district, Sierra Leone – a presentation

In this presentation, the team from Institute for Development in Sierra Leone outline their study – Strengthening community health systems: A collaborative approach to addressing Kush use in Kailahun district, Sierra Leone (there’s more on that study here).

Kush is a synthetic drug cocktail containing cannabinoids and nitazenes. Introduced in Freetown in around 2016, Kush has since spread nationwide, including rural communities like Kailahun. The impact of Kush in Sierra Leone has been devastating.

The presentation outlines the objectives of the study and some of the findings – the risk factors driving the use of Kush, how widespread useage is, potential intervention areas, policy implications and future potential research priorities.
