WHO argues that resilient health services and systems ensure that countries can effectively prevent, prepare for, detect, adapt to, respond to and recover from public health threats. They enable an emergency response while ensuring the maintenance of essential and routine quality health services. Health systems resilience is especially crucial in fragile and shock-prone settings, which face chronic stressors and repeated crises.

This ReBUILD for Resilience Special Issue, in Social Science and Medicine – Health Systems, brings together research from a range of contexts, employing a several methods, including participatory action research at local levels. It identifies leverage points for system strengthening and the development of capacities.

Our launch webinar is a chance to hear from the editors and various paper authors on the key learning generated for those interested in health systems research. It is the culmination of learning from the FCDO-funded ReBUILD for Resilience Research Programme Consortium and an opportunity to hear what we have uncovered over the last seven years.

All are welcome!
