This chapter analyses research conducted by the ReBUILD consortium in Northern Uganda to explore the extent to which gender equity has been considered and realized in the post-conflict reconstruction of the heath sector. It builds on the literature review from ReBUILD’s research into opportunities and challenges for building gender responsive health systems in post conflict contexts, which suggested that health sector reform in post-conflict contexts, as well as in developing countries, has failed to sufficiently identify the distinct health needs and experiences of men and women, analyse the factors that contribute to that difference, and respond accordingly.
