Fellowship success for ReBUILD member

18 May 2023

The Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Programme [opens new tab] was created to support aspirational public health leaders from Africa. It works to help them acquire advanced skills and competencies to strategise, manage and lead programmes that will transform public health in the continent. We’re proud to say that one of our own, Haja Wurie, ReBUILD co-PI from Sierra Leone, recently graduated as a fellow. Alongside 19 other fellows from 16 countries, Haja attended the graduation ceremony in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where she reflected on her journey.

“The fellowship has taken me on a journey of self-discovery, peer learning and invaluable support through coaching and mentoring. It significantly deepened my comprehension of the historical and societal factors that have contributed to inequalities in Africa. I believe I can speak on behalf of the entire cohort when I express how this experience has heightened our awareness of social and political issues. I am immensely grateful to have joined this inspiring and growing community of African health leaders, all united in their dedication to pushing boundaries and effecting positive transformations in the global health domain. We are now change agents, and will be working relentlessly to attain and maintain stronger health systems for our continent. Congratulations to my fellow graduates!”
